Our Department

Hello parents and students of Exceptional Learners!

The Special Education Department of Pebblebrook High School is comprised of 18 teachers, 4 paraprofessionals, and 2 Speech pathologists. The mission of our department is to provide support through differentiated and specialized instruction according to student's Individual Education Plan (I.E.P.).


Listed below are brief descriptions of our departmental staff.

Thermond Billingslea: Teaches Math1 and coaches Football, Wrestling, and Golf.

Jeffrey Borck: Graduated with a Social Science degree from UGA in 2001 and currently teaches Math1 & Math2.

Crystal Brantley: This is Mrs. Brantley's 14th year teaching Special Education. She received a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from Albany State University, Masters of Education in Special Education/Intellectual Disabilities from Albany State University, and a Specialists degree in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College. She is currently enrolled at Walden University pursuing an Educational Doctorate in Teacher Leadership.

David Carroll: Originally from North Carolina, Coach Carroll graduated from Appalachian State University. He has a Masters Degree in Physical Education with add-on certifications in Social Studies and Special Education. Currently he is a Co-teacher in the Science Department and the Cross Country coach at Pebblebrook.

Michael Dothard: Teaches exceptional learners that are Mildly Intellectually Disabled.

Nicole Garrison: spent the bulk of her childhood in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This is her 7th year living in Georgia. In 2008, she received her Masters in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University. She enjoys reading and getting her passport stamped every summer and is the proud 'parent' of a Boston Terrier! Ms. Garrison is the department head for Special Education at Pebblebrook High School.

Laura Giordano: Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ms. Giordano has lived in Ohio, Louisiana and Georgia. Her Undergraduate degrees are from the University of Cincinnati and the University of Toledo. Her Graduate degrees and add-on certificate were completed at Kennesaw State University. She has also attended Louisiana State University. Mrs. Giordano actively participates in pageants and is a professionally trained dancer.

Robin Glover: is a paraprofessional in Ms. Sturm's classroom.

Charles Hendrix: from Gainesville, Georgia and received an A.A. in Elementary Education from Cecil Community College, a Bachelors of Arts in History from Lander University, and a Masters of Arts in History. He is also the Varsity Boys Basketball coach.

Angela Jackson: Grew up in Florida and holds a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, a Masters degree in Special Education and a Specialists degree in Leadership in Curriculum and Instruction. She has been with the department for 7 years.

Aubrey Jenkins: is a paraprofessional in the MOID class with Mrs. Brantley.

Lateria Jordan: attended Tennessee State University, after having grown up in Nashville, Tennessee. She received her bachelors degree in Speech Pathology from TSU. Ms. Jordan has her Masters degree in Special Education and Specialists degree in Educational Leadership and has coached Pebblebrook's JADE dance team for the last 5 years.

Celeste Lyles: Grew up in Warner Robins, GA, and attended Georgia State University, where she attained her Bachelors degree in English Literary Studies, and later a Masters degree in English Education.

Lenoria Madison: is a paraprofessional in the MID classroom with Mrs. Sutton.

Alfreda McKenzie: was born and raised in Kansas City, MO, where she earned both her Bachelors and Masters degree in Communication Disorders (Speech Pathology) from Rockhurst University. She is both nationally certified through ASHA and holds a GA license in the area of Speech/Language Pathology. She has been working with school-aged speech/language impaired children for 6 yrs. She truly enjoys working with high school students, building personal rapports while helping them identify their tremendous potential both in their personal and academic lives!

Nerlande Monfort: is from Florida, but originally from Haiti. She has an Associates degree in Middle Grades Education from Miami Dade Community College. She has received her Bachelors degree in General Studies with Concentrations in Computer, French, and Psychology. Mrs. Monfort is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Mathematics Education at Lesley University.

Marvin Phinizy: is a co-teacher in the Social Studies department and the coach of Pebblebrook's Beta Phi step-team.

Tiana Royal: co-teaches in Social Studies and English.

Jasmine Sadler: Grew up in Cobb County, GA. This is her second year teaching, after graduating from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelors of Science in English Education. Additionally, Miss Sadler is certified in Special Education, ESOL, Reading, and Early Elementary. She is also working on her Masters degree in Special Education. Currently, Miss Sadler co-teaches World History with Miss Hogan and Mr. Morgan.

Jessica Sturm: is a first year Special Education teacher, who recently graduated from the University of Missouri. She teaches students with Mild Intellectual Disabilities in the subjects of Math, Science, and Careers. She is also the Assistant Coach for the Girl's Varsity Soccer team.

Janeen Sutton: Teaches MID students.

Charles Swann: Co-teaches science and coaches Football.

Gianna Wright: Teaches exceptional learners that are Mildly Intellectually Disabled.
